How to start franchising with Smoothie King

1. Complete Franchise Request Form

In order to begin the process, you must first fill our franchise request form. Upon confidential review of your information and preliminary approval, you will be notified of our mutual interest. You can also use the print version (.pdf), complete it fully and fax it to 985.635.6987, attn: Smoothie King Franchise Development Manager. 2. Visit Smoothie King Home Office

A Franchise Development Representative will schedule an interview with you at our Home Office in Dallas, TX. During this visit, you will get an in-depth introduction to the Smoothie King operation and training facilities, meet our executive staff and management team and have the opportunity to visit existing franchise locations.

3. Approval

Smoothie King will evaluate your financial statements, credit history and background information. If necessary, we reserve the right for a second interview. Upon approval, a franchise agreement will be delivered to you.

4. Enter Franchise Agreement

After receiving the agreements and waiting seven calendar days, you will then send back the signed and notarized agreements along with the franchise fee of $30,000. At this point, you are now a Smoothie King franchisee and are ready to get your new business open!

5. Orientation

As soon as possible, you will be required to attend a one-day orientation class. At this class we will discuss all of the steps involved in opening your store. This will include budgeting, financing, planning, site selection, ordering, construction and much more. Once complete, you will schedule a meeting with our real estate department to begin the site selection process.

James Shafer is a muti-unit franchisee of Smoothie King. What makes him unique as a franchisee? He’s not afraid to put in some work. When two of his managers called in sick, Shafer was at the restaurant blending smoothies for customers.

“I think it’s important to show your team that everything is everyone’s job,” Shafer told Smoothie King’s website. “What better way to do that than work a full day in-store?”

Before he began working with the franchise, Shafer operated several cell phone retail stores. Considering his prior experience managing multiple locations, he felt ready to take on multiple Smoothie King locations. 

While many may shy away from the opportunity to work with several teams of employees, however, Shafer felt up to the challenge. Considering most of his Smoothie King employees tend to be younger or young adults, he saw this as an opportunity to introduce them to the working world.

“Before, most of my employees were adults. Now they’re younger, and this is probably their first job,” Shafer told Smoothie King. “It’s important to get them started off on the right foot, and I’m excited to be a part of that development.”
