While fried chicken and biscuits is presently dominated by large brands such as Chick-fil-A and Popeye’s, there’s a new kid on the block. Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken holds the distinction as the nation’s fastest growing fried chicken chain. Rise currently has over 100 franchises in development across the nation and just announced an area development with the state of Virginia that expands operation capacities within the Old Dominion state.
BDVA Holdings has already committed to opening 25 locations in Virginia within the next nine years. The Virginia deal comes as no surprise for the rapidly expanding chicken brand. Rise recently signed a similar five-unit deal in Oklahoma with Dr. Parker Simon and Bradley Turner of Tulsa. Although restaurants have been hit especially hard during the COVID-19 crisis, Simon and Turner have a strong belief in the resilience of the American economy.
In what many industry experts considered a wise move, Rise partnered with Fransmart to grow their brand nationwide. Fransmart has enjoyed wide-spread success with brands like The Halal Guys and Five Guys Burgers & Fries. As the fastest growing fried chicken brand in the nation, Rise has certainly hit the ground running.
What Is Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken?
Tom Ferguson, a classically trained chef with a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, founded Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken in 2012. Rise, as Ferguson notes, “is a mixture of old school, new school, and our school.” The southern inspired franchise serves its signature fried chicken, biscuits, donuts, and much more.
In its eight years of operation, Rise has garnered plenty of media attention due to its rapid expansion. The franchise earned the #27 spot on Fast Casual’s 2016 Top Movers & Shakers list and was also ranked by Food & Wine Magazine as having one of the “Top Best Biscuits In The U.S.”
