Dickey’s BBQ Pit is getting ready to take its growing to the land down under.
The barbecue restaurant franchise entered a letter of intent with Australian restaurant group QSR Foods to develop 50 units throughout the country.
The new agreement marks a milestone for the 79-year old brand with its first foray into Australia. The Dickey’s BBQ Pit franchise has a strong presence not only in the United States, but also in international markets such as Brazil, Egypt, Pakistan, Georgia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
“It’s an incredible feeling to make plans for our fifth continental conquest and continue my family’s legacy as the largest barbecue concept in the world,” said CEO of Dickey’s Capital Group Roland Dickey Jr. regarding the planned expansion to Australia.
Dickey’s BBQ Pit’s new locations in Australia will feature the restaurant’s signature Texas-style barbecue dishes and other favorites like mac-n-cheese and creamed spinach. Veteran franchisor Richa Goyal of Australia noted the nation’s growing hunger for southern-style barbecue.
“We couldn’t be prouder to bring the world’s largest barbecue restaurant to Australian soil with the opening of our first locations in Brisbane and Queensland next year,” he said.
