Sunshine Fitness Growth Holdings, also known as Sunshine Fitness, was the very first franchisee group to trust in Planet Fitness’ revolutionary gym concept. The fitness brand opened its first Planet Fitness in 2003 and is now proud to announce the opening of its 100th location.
Although the fitness industry has experienced a predicted drop in revenue due to the pandemic, Sunshine Fitness has adapted and grown through its parent company Planet Fitness. The mega-gym has adopted several health-measures to reduce the risk of spread including touchless check-ins, a virtual crowd meter to ascertain the capacity level at every gym, and “Social Fitnessing”.
As Planet Fitness’ first franchisee group, Sunshine Fitness is also one of the fastest growing. The brand has opened numerous locations in just the last year and plans to open 13 additional gyms in 2021.
Here’s what co-owner and CEO of Sunshine Fitness, Shane McGuiness had to say about the milestone:
“Opening our 100th club during this challenging year is not only a testament to our franchise group, but also the desire of the communities to prioritize physical and mental wellness as an essential part of their lives,” said Shane McGuiness, co-owner and CEO of Planet Fitness Southeast. “In 2021 we will continue bringing jobs to local economies, while prioritizing the health and safety of our members and employees.”
What’s Fueled Planet Fitness’ Rapid Growth?
Believe it or not, Planet Fitness has been around since 1992. From one location in Dover, NH, Planet Fitness has become one of the largest fitness franchises in the world. The brand now boasts over 14 million members in 2,086 stores that span multiple continents. Planet Fitness has been a constant go-to for beginner gym-goers due to its “Judgement Free Zone” policy. Each gym truly fosters a safe environment for people to workout in without feeling self-conscious.
